Le Chateau des Barons de Vitré

This imposing fortress-castle dates from the 11th century and was rebuilt between the 13th and 15th centuries. It played a major role in the defence of the Breton border, and today stands as one of the finest examples of mediaeval military architecture in Brittany.It houses a museum telling its history, and that of the town.
