We will once again be travelling with Solent Coaches. Since our last trip, there has been a further change of rules regarding the number of hours the driver is permitted to work in a 24hr period, which creates problems for taking the usual afternoon Caen ferry on the return journey. Although the journey to Cherbourg is slightly longer, taking this fast ferry avoids the problem, and has the added advantage of arriving in Lymington late afternoon instead of near midnight. |

Accommodation & Programme: |
Some of us will be hosted by families we already know, but there are always a fair number who are meeting their hosts for the first time. Even if people are anxious about this, they invariably wind up having a great time and enjoy practising their language skills no matter how elementary or rusty! and Anne Rupin, my counterpart who organises things on the Vitré end, will always try to match non-French speakers with families where English is spoken. |
Usually one day is spent with hosts, one day is for a group coach excursion to a local tourist site, and one day is a mix. There is always a group meal one evening, sometimes at a restaurant, sometimes a buffet catered by members. Since we will be there for the Bastille Day fete, there will be the usual impressive firework display on the 14th. The Programme will be sent to all who have booked as soon as I receive it. |

Cost & Bookings: |
Estimate £100-120 pp. The final figure will depend on the number of people travelling (the greater the number, the lower the individual cost!), and will include a £10 “admin charge” to LITA and allowance for driver tip. A reserved recliner seat on the outward passage is an extra £5. If you are travelling independently, total cost will be £30 pp, to include use of coach whilst there. Please note also, that to participate in this trip you must be a paid-up member of LITA (£15 for individuals, £25 for couples/families). |
To book, complete the Booking Form and send to me with £10 p/p deposit (cheques payable LITA). Remember to check your passport is “in date!” I will contact all who have booked around end April/beginning May, to let you know amount of the balance which will be due 12th May. In June we’ll have a pre-trip get together in the Mayflower, to meet each other and go over any last-minute details. But please ring or email me in the meantime if you have any queries. |
